The Beginning

Mortelmans (Pty) Ltd was founded by Glenn Mortelmans in 2016 to comprehensively provide clients with a specialist security service.

Whilst Glenn Mortelmans worked in various high-level security sectors, he identified a gap in the South African market for specialist security services. Combining his skills with his exclusive expertise, he established Mortelmans (Pty) Ltd to provide clients with a more specialised, disciplined and integrated approach to security.

From its early days of operation, Mortelmans (Pty) Ltd has proactively kept pace with the ever-changing security industry by offering superior coverage and service for all types of businesses through the use of technology and a unique way of operating the business.

The company was established on the understanding that every client faces different risks. Mortelmans therefore does not believe in providing a standard, one-size-fits-all service. Instead, each security solution is developed around the client’s location, operating environment, risk profile and individual requirements.

About the Founder

Glenn Mortelmans is the founder of Mortelmans (Pty) Ltd and a highly accredited Krav Maga instructor with a wealth of experience spanning more than 25 years.

Throughout his career, Glenn has worked in various high-level security sectors, including military, private security, corporate institutions and rural areas internationally. This broad operational background has provided him with specialist knowledge and practical experience in managing different security risks, environments and emergency situations.

His experience also enables him to understand that professional security requires more than a visible presence. It requires discipline, preparation, situational awareness, effective communication and the ability to respond correctly when circumstances change.

In accordance with legal requirements, all security companies and their personnel must undergo training and registration with the Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (PSIRA). Mortelmans believes that legal compliance alone may not be sufficient, and therefore provides additional personalised training under Glenn Mortelmans, an accredited military and Krav Maga instructor.

This additional training is designed to strengthen operational readiness, professional conduct, emergency response, discipline and the practical skills required to protect clients effectively. Glenn remains closely involved in maintaining the company’s standards and ensuring that the knowledge gained throughout his career is passed on to the Mortelmans team.

Our mutual cooperation is based on exchanging experience within our fields of service. Together, we set and implement international standards in emergency procedures and undertake joint activities, including training programmes and workshops with police, special units and other emergency services.

This international cooperation allows the company to remain informed about changing security risks, specialist techniques and international operating standards.
